Latest News from Motts 58

January 2016

Happy new year from the Motts 58 Foundation! We look forward to an exciting year with the youth we work with and our supporters. Please check back with us throughout 2016 for announcements and events.

We'd like to start out the year with some exciting news! Felix Gonzalez is headed to the 2016 Junior Open and Youth National Boxing Championships in Reno Nevada. Felix is a former Silver Gloves National Champion and will be traveling to Reno January 3rd-9th to compete. This specific boxing tournament allows youth the opportunity to compete for a spot in the Junior Olympic World Team, on behalf of the United States of America.

Felix has worked incredibly hard and wishes to thank his supporters: Pastor Victor, Sylvia and her husband, John Pandolfino, and Victor Otero. Felix trained with the CYBC team, Luna's Boxing Gym, Elgin Boxing Club, and Patriots Boxing Club to prepare for Reno. He also thanks his many sparring partners!

Good luck, Felix! We're cheering you on from Chicago!

The foundation has undergone some changes over the last 12 months to refocus our efforts on supporting youth programs.  The Boxing Camp has been converted to a Boxing Program where participants can come and go as they please after school.  There is a mandatory quarterly meeting that will sponsor leadership talks and food will be provided.  The application can be downloaded here. The camp is currently at capacity, but we hope to add some additional positions after our fundraiser in August.

Additionally, the Boxing Gym is under new ownership and has changed its name to Oakley Fight Club (http://www.oakleyfightclub.com).  Carlos Castaneda and Lalo Beas are our contacts at the Gym and they will be happy to assist with questions.

Our next KO for Kids Fundraiser will be happening soon, please stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. In the mean time, check out the video below between Pandolfino and Aguilar.
